Liberals: The UnOpposition

The Liberals saying that they oppose Harper’s policies but then refusing to act on their convictions is exactly like a straight man saying that gay sex is sinful but then is caught in a men’s room soliciting exactly that.

If the Liberals truly believed that Harper’s policies were wrong for Canada and for Canadians then they have a responsibility to act. If they do not act then they, as employees, should be fired.

If the responsibility of a politician is to represent their electorate then by not doing so is being irresponsible.

If the responsibility of a politician is to maintain their seat and ensure their job then I will quit voting and will have lost what little faith I have that democracy can work.

Good Governance is not about keeping a job.

  • If the Liberals believed in Democracy then they would act on their principles even if it meant their job.
  • If a Liberal loses his/her seat it is because they do not have the confidence of their electorate.
  • If they do not have the confidence of the electorate then they must not have been representing their electorate.
  • And if they are not representing then they are not contributing to Good Governance.

I am reminded of the biblical principle: Faith without action is dead.
